NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

In accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, notice is given of receipt of an application to establish a freestanding birth center in Chicago.  Project #26-038, Chicago South Side Birth Center, Chicago.  Applicant: Chicago South Side Birth Center.  The applicant proposes to establish a freestanding birth center with three birthing suites at 8301 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago.  Project cost: $8,902,992.  The application contained a Safety Net Impact Statement and was declared complete on August 17, 2026.  A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board Office, at the address below.  To obtain a copy of an application, please call the office at the number listed below for details and copying fees.  Consideration by the State Board has been tentatively scheduled for the January 26, 2027, State Board Meeting.  Any person wanting a public hearing on the proposed project must submit a written request for a hearing to:

Requests for hearings must be received by this Agency no later than September 1, 2026.  Any person wanting to submit written comments on this project must submit these comments by January 6, 2027.  The State Board will post its findings in a State Board Staff Report, which will be made available on the internet on January 12, 2027.  The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.  The public will have until 9:00 am, January 19, 2027.  The internet address used to access this report is: www.hfsrb.illinois.gov
