On August 15, 2025, the Governor signed Senate Bill 798. This bill amends Section 3 of the Health Facilities Planning Act by revising the definition of "Non-clinical service area" and by establishing new definitions for "Patient care unit" and "Provider". NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

In accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, notice is given of receipt to establish an acute care hospital in Chicago.  Project #25-003, Advocate Trinity Hospital, Chicago.  Applicants:  Advocate Aurora Health Inc., Advocate Health, Inc., and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation d/b/a Advocate Trinity Hospital.  The applicants propose establishing a 40-bed small-format hospital to replace the discontinued 205-bed acute care hospital in Chicago.  The replacement hospital will be located on South DuSable Lakeshore Drive, Chicago.  Project cost: $319,557,482.

The application contained a Safety Net Impact Statement and was declared complete on January 28, 2025.  A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board Office at the address below.  To obtain a copy of an application, please call the office for details and copying fees at the number listed below.  Consideration by the State Board has been tentatively scheduled for the June 24, 2025, State Board Meeting.

Any person wanting to submit written comments on this project must submit these comments by June 4, 2025.  The State Board will post its findings in a State Board Staff Report, which will be available via the Internet on June 10, 2025.  The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.  The public will have until 9:00 am June 16, 2025.  The internet address used to access this report is: www.hfsrb.illinois.gov
