NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

Per the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act [20 ILCS 3960/], notice is given of receipt to add beds to an existing Medically Complex/Skilled Nursing (MC/DD) facility in Elgin. Project #25-005, Marklund Wasmond Center, Elgin. Applicants: Marklund Charities and Marklund Children’s Home d/b/a Marklund Wasmond Center. The Applicants propose to add 24 skilled nursing beds to an existing 61-bed facility located at 1435 Summit Street, Elgin. Project cost: $14,821,679.

The application contained a Safety Net Impact Statement and was deemed substantially complete on February 10, 2025. A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) Office at the address below. To obtain a copy of an application, please call the office for details and copying fees at the number listed below. Consideration by HFSRB has been tentatively scheduled for the May 6, 2025 meeting. HFSRB staff must receive requests for hearings by February 25, 2025. The public may also submit written comments on this project. All public written comments must be received by April 14, 2025.  HFSRB will post its findings in a HFSRB Staff Report, which will be available via the Internet on April 21, 2025. The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the HFSRB staff. All written public comments about the HFSRB staff findings must be received before 9:00 am, April 28, 2025. The internet address used to access this report is:
