NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

In accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, notice is given of receipt to add beds at an existing acute care hospital in Urbana. Project #26-037, The Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Applicants: The Carle Foundation Hospital and the Carle Foundation d/b/a Carle Health. The applicants propose to add 16 Medical/Surgical beds, increasing the bed complement from 351 to 357 beds, and establish a 22-station Observation unit at the hospital located at 611 West Park Street, Urbana. Project cost: $34,322,411.

The application contained a Safety Net Impact Statement and was declared complete on July 31, 2026. A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board Office, at the address below. Consideration by the State Board has been tentatively scheduled for the December 15, 2026, State Board Meeting. Requests for hearings must be received by this Agency no later than August 17, 2026. Any person wanting to submit written comments on this project must submit these comments by November 25, 2026.  The State Board will post its findings in a State Board Staff Report, and the report will be made available via the internet on December 1, 2026. The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
