NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

In accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act, notice is given of receipt to establish a Pediatric hospital/outpatient center in Downers Grove. Project #26-026, Lurie Children’s – Downers Grove Hospital and Outpatient Center. Applicants: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Children’s Hospital of Chicago Medical Center. The applicants propose to establish a pediatric hospital with 48 medical/surgical beds, 6 operating rooms, and a 35-station emergency department at the corner of Woodcreek and Lacey Road in Downers Grove. Project cost: $480,102,903.

The application contained a Safety Net Impact Statement and was declared complete on June 12, 2026. A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board Office, at the address below. Consideration by the State Board has been tentatively scheduled for the November 5, 2026, State Board Meeting. Requests for hearings must be received by this Agency no later than June 29, 2026. Any person wanting to submit written comments on this project must submit these comments by October 16, 2026.  The State Board will post its findings in a State Board Staff Report, which will be made available on the internet on October 22, 2026. The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.
