NOTICE OF REVIEW AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING AND WRITTEN COMMENT

Per the requirements of the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act [20 ILCS 3960/], notice is given of receipt to establish a Dedicated Observation Unit at an acute care hospital in Hazel Crest.  Project #26-010, Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest.  Applicants: Advocate Health, Inc., Advocate Aurora Health, Inc., and Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation d/b/a Advocate South Suburban Hospital.  The Applicants propose to establish a 30-bed Dedicated Observation Unit in 20,400 GSF of modernized space, at its hospital located at 17800 South Kedzie Avenue, Hazel Crest.  Project cost: $20,728,332.

The application was deemed substantially complete on March 2, 2026. A copy of the application may be viewed at the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) Office at the address below. Consideration by HFSRB has been expedited and tentatively scheduled for the June 2, 2026, meeting. HFSRB staff must receive requests for hearings by March 17, 2026. The public may also submit written comments on this project. All public written comments must be received by May 13, 2026.  HFSRB will post its findings in an HFSRB Staff Report, which will be available via the Internet on May 19, 2026. The public may submit written responses in support of or in opposition to the findings of the HFSRB staff.
